PSA pauses international submissions due to recent tariff changes

In response to the recent U.S. tariff regulations announced on April 2, 2025, Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) has temporarily suspended the acceptance of grading submissions directly to its U.S. facilities from customers located outside the United States. This decision extends previous restrictions that applied to submissions from Canada, China, Hong Kong, and Mexico.

Reason for the Suspension

PSA has implemented this suspension to protect international customers from significant tariff expenses. The newly imposed tariffs are applied to the value of the items in the order rather than on the PSA service fee. For example, an order valued at $500 would incur a $50 tariff under a 10% rate, while a $5,000 order would face a $500 tariff. These additional costs are in addition to PSA’s grading fees and shipping expenses.

Impact on Customers in Japan and Canada

  • Japan: Submissions must be sent to PSA's grading operation in Tokyo, which remains unaffected by the U.S. tariffs. Customers can visit PSAcard.co.jp for more information and to initiate submissions.

  • Canada: Submissions can be made through PSA's official Submission Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Customers can visit PSAcanada.ca to learn more about this process and download submission forms. Additionally, submissions can be made via PSA Authorized Dealers in Canada.

Future Plans for Other International Customers

PSA is actively working on solutions to enable customers outside of the United States, Japan, and Canada to continue submitting through PSA Authorized Dealers. Updates on the resumption of submissions for these customers will be provided as they become available.

Important Considerations

Customers outside the United States who send submissions directly to PSA's U.S. facilities will be financially responsible for any tariffs, duties, and other taxes incurred by PSA, as outlined in Section 5 of PSA's User Agreement. Similarly, customers sending graded cards to the PSA Vault for storage from outside the U.S. will also be responsible for any tariff charges incurred.

PSA has apologised for any inconvenience caused by these temporary measures and appreciates customers' understanding and patience. The company is committed to keeping its authentication and grading services accessible to collectors worldwide and will provide further updates as they become available.
